| This book, which was published in 1726 and authored by Francois Valentyn was written based on reports, pamphlets, books and other sources taken to India by Dutch administrators. The fifth volume is instrumental in giving credence to the prominence of the Malacca Sultanate empire in the 15th century. It provides details of historical events on the Malay States taking account of the early history of Malacca, the early Malay Sultanate and foreign relations between Malacca and its neighbouring states. Written in Dutch, Valentyn's book became a major source for Dutch scholars who seek an understanding of their relationship with the East. Despite its age, excerpts from this particular publication are still in relatively good condition. |
