Proclamation of Malaysia, 1963

       The proclamation of Malaysia, which was announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah on 16 September 1963, was direct result of a treaty signed on 9 July 1963 between the Federation of Malaya, United Kingdom, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore. The treaty validates the merger of Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore into the Federation of Malaya, which simultaneously liberated the states from the British rule.
