Masjid Abu Bakar (Abu Bakar Mosque) is situated in Johor Bahru, Johor and it was built on the decree of Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar. The mosque derived its architectural styles from mosques in the Middle East and Indian Sub-continent, with its onion-like dome. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held on 1 Muharram 1310 Hijri / 26 July 1892 and the mosque construction was completed in 1900. The engineer responsible for the construction of the RM40,000 mosque was Dato' Yahya Awaluddin. The mosque was first officially used on Friday 1 Syawal 1317 Hijri / 2 February 1900 for Friday prayers.
