Masjid Jamek (Jamek Mosque) of Kuala Lumpur is located at Jalan Tun Perak in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city. The mosque is unique as it is situated at the confluence of Sungai Gombak and Sungai Kelang. The stone laying ceremony to build the mosque was carried out on 23 March 1908 and the mosque was officially opened by His Majesty DYMM Sultan Alauddin Sulaiman Shah on 23 December 1909. The architecture of the mosque with Moghul characteristics , which is based on mosque designs in Northern India is a product designed by Mr.A.B Hubback a government architect.
