Masjid Tengkera (Tengkera Mosque) in Malacca was built in 1141 Hijri (1728 A.D.) The building is square in shape and has a three- tiered pyramid roof. The mosque stands on four main pillars which also support the mosque roof and its dome. Its architecture is a mixture of foreign and local cultural elements. This is reflected by the roof which is similar in design to that of rumah limas, Sultan Mansur's palace, the Pagoda shape and the pyramid.
