P.Ramlee Memorial Gallery was officially opened to the public on 22nd March 1986. The purpose of the gallery establishment was to appreciate the Great Artiste of Tan Sri P.Ramlee's contribution to the art industry and to encourage research and study in national arts and cultures.
The initial building of P.Ramlee Memorial Gallery was his residence. As a Great Artiste, this house was renovated and transformed to a gallery which displayed Tan Sri P Ramlee's materials and information that was synonymous with the local music and film industry. In fact, most of his songs and films are still admired until today.
The items displayed in the gallery are based on certain themes in order to make it easier for the visitors to know P.Ramlee in personal.
Some of the themes are "Sepintas Lalu", Biography, Knowing P.Ramlee, The Resurgence Era, Melody and Song, Film World, Awards, "Sepanjang Riawayatku", Al-Fatihah and P.Ramlee Yang Ku Kenali". The film Penarik Becha and Pendekar Bujang Lapok shooting set and the tools used in the film-making together with the replica of the actors are displayed. Besides that, there are cloths and costumes belonged to Allahyarham P.Ramlee and Allahyarham Saloma also being displayed for the visitors. To feel the old nostalgic, visitors can take pictures in Saloma's dresses as a memorable thought by visiting the gallery.
