History and Background
National Archives of Malaysia, Sabah Branch was established on 1st February 1977 which is after 20 years existence of National Archives, and started their operation in Federal House, Kota Kinabalu. On 20th June 1977, National Archives of Malaysia, Sabah Branch has moved to Nosmal Court Building in Jalan Pantai, Kota Kinabalu. Then, it was changed to Wisma YTL Building at Jalan Kolombong, Inanam on 1st September 1985. Finally, they moved to their own building at Jalan Penampang which was completed in 2006. The construction of this building started in 2003 on the land area of 3.5 acres with the cost of RM 27 millions. This building was officially opened on 13th April 2006 by the Honorable Datuk Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, Minister of Culture, Art and Heritage Malaysia.
