Tan Sri Datuk Haji Arshad Bin Ayub Tan Sri Datuk Haji Arshad Bin Ayub

  Tan Sri Datuk Haji Arshad Ayub was born on 15 November 1928 in Muar, Johor Darul Takzim. He began his early education at Sekolah Melayu Parit Keruma, Muar, Johor before continuing his education at Sekolah Inggeris Kerajaan also in Muar, Johor. Then he went to Universiti Malaya, Singapore (1949-1951), Kolej Pertanian Serdang, Selangor (1951- 1954) and University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom (1954-1958). His career began as early as 1951 when he worked at RIDA (Rural Industrial Development Authority).

  He was much involved with the planning of national development agenda particularly during post independence era and this development agenda became the core in the administration of the late Tun Abdul Razak. Besides this, Tan Sri Datuk Haji Arshad Ayub was also known as the person responsible in the development of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), a university established to provide opportunities for higher education among the bumiputeras.

  He was the first director of the university, which was formerly known as Institut Teknologi MARA, from 1967 until 1975 . He had a vast experience in public administration of the country with various posts held in the government departments as well as the ministries. Although his life spans 80 years old, he is still active as an administrator particularly in the business sector and he has been appointed as the Chairman of Board of Directors for Universiti Malaya and Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi MARA.
