Y.M. Tunku Tan Sri Dato' Shahriman B. Tunku Sulaiman Y.M. Tunku Tan Sri Dato' Shahriman B. Tunku Sulaiman

  Y. M. Tunku Tan Sri Dato' Shahriman was born in Seri Menanti, Negeri Sembilan in 1932. He was a University of Malaya graduate, Singapore in Literature. Upon graduation from the university, Tunku Shahriman joined the Malayan Civil Service (M.C.S.) in 1958 and served as the Assistant State Secretary of Perak.

  In 1961, Tunku Shahriman was transferred to the Cabinet Secretariat in the Prime Minister's Department. It was a short stint here for him because his services were more needed in Perak, where he was appointed as the District Officer in the same year until 1965. Later, Tunku Shahriman was transferred to Pahang as the State Secretary of Pahang. His duties continued until early 1971, when he returned to the Prime Minister's Department as the Director General of Implementation Coordination and Development Administration Unit. When Pahang Tenggara Development Authority or DARA was established in 1971, Tunku Shahriman was elected as the first chairman. The selection was made based on the ability and credibility which he had shown throughout his services. He held the duties and responsibilities until 1977.

  In addition, Tunku Shahriman has also been the Group Chairman and Chief Executive of Perbadanan Nasional Berhad since 1974, Chairman of United Malayan Banking Corporation Berhad from 1976-1982 and again in 1986-1989. Tunku Shahriman was also the Chairman of several companies, including Malayawata Steel Bhd., Tradewinds (M) Sdn. Bhd, United Malayan Land Bhd and Co-chairman of Goodyear (M) Bhd. He is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PERNAS and Chairman of the PERNAS Group of Companies.

  Tunku Shahriman is also a member of several bodies and institutions namely Fellow Member of the Institute of Malaysian Bankers, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Council Member, Associate Member of World Economic Forum, and member of Hilton Hotel Owners' Association.
