The 16th International Congress on Archives scheduled from 21-27 July 2008 is a premier global forum that brings together experts and professionals in archives, records management and other related professions. This Congress like the previous Congresses will continue to foster friendship and stimulate collaborations between the members of ICA. This memorable event will incorporate an intense 7 day programme comprising business meetings, seminars, workshops, paper presentations and sessions. They have been carefully planed to address some common global issues affecting the profession. It will also provide the participants with new findings, work in progress, and some practical solutions for existing problems in its 38 exhibition booths.
To mark this special occasion, the Prime Minister of Malaysia has agreed to grace the Opening Ceremony of the Congress on 22nd July 2008. Do not miss the Malaysian hospitality and its colorful culture. Good selections of traditional cultural performances are being choreographed to entertain delegates and guests while they enjoy famous Malaysian cuisine during the Malaysian Night on the 22nd July.
A special congress library equipped with books and internet connection facilities is provided for congress participants who choose to stay away and relax in between sessions. Exciting indoor activities, visits and excursions for the spouse and accompanying persons have also been arranged to many locations in and around Kuala Lumpur and in the state of Perak and Selangor.
Join us in Kuala Lumpur city and experience the unique blend of history and natural beauty. Congress delegates are urged to take this opportunity to enjoy other activities lined up in the yearly KL Festival organized by the National Department of Culture and Arts from 11 – 30 July.
Before you leave Kuala Lumpur, do not forget to have a close look at the “Merdeka Car” exhibited on the ground floor of Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC). This car attracted wide media attention and created great excitement during the Malaysian 50th Independence Day Celebrations.
