Introduction of SARBICA
Southest Asia Regional Branch of the International Council on Archieves (SARBICA) is the first Regional Branch of the International Council on Archieves. It was established at an inaugural Conference held in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia on 9 July 1968. The year 2008, marked the 40th anniversary of SARBICA has helped foster professional relationship between archival institutions within the region.
Member Countries
The membership of SARBICA was initially limited only to a few countries, due to political factors. Today we are proud to be able to say that all countries of Southeast Asia, with the exception of Laos and the newly emergent country of East Timor, are represented in SARBICA. These countries include Brunei Darulssalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
