MISSION
Empowering records management in the public sector and archives administration through smart partnerships and efficient and effective utilization of information and communication technologies in the interests of society and the country.
OBJECTIVE
- Improve efficiency and awareness of civil servants with regard to Record Management through the enforcement of the National Archives Act 2003 (Act 629) to ensure that records are managed in a systematic and cost-effective according to the standards set.
- Acquiring archival material with eternal value, save and preservedin accordance with the principles and standards set as a reference and national heritage.
- Communalizing archival materials through advocacy programs to enhance the appreciation of the history of the country towards the establishment of the identity of Malaysians.
FUNCTION
- To provide advisory service in relation to a systematic, efficient and economical record management for the state/federal public office in the entire state of Sarawak.
- To trace, acquire and keep all types of records and documents which has national and historical value for permanent storage in the National Archives of Malaysia, Sarawak Branch in which it serves as a custodian to the archives records from state/federal public office in the entire state of Sarawak.
- To process records that has been transferred by state/federal public office in the entire state of Sarawak for permanent storage in the National Archives of Malaysia, Sarawak Branch.
- To carry out records conservation activities under the care of National Archives of Malaysia, Sarawak Branch as well as to monitor collection materials are in good and perfect conditions.
- To provide reference and research service to the public, students from institute of higher learning as well as government departments and agencies.
- To carry out expansion and educational archives activities in the effort to disseminate national heritage treasury collections under storage and custodian of the National Archives of Malaysia, Sarawak Branch.
