The Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Memorial

Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Memorial was officially opened by Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, on November 10, 1994. The memorial was established to commemorate and honor the services and contributions of Tunku as the "Father of Independence" and also the first Prime Minister of Malaysia (1957 – 1970). The memorial displays all the heritage related to Tunku, consisting of various materials such as documents, photographs, gifts, newspaper clippings, clothing, and furniture. There is also an audiovisual corner featuring Tunku.
All the displayed materials are based on specific themes to help visitors understand Tunku personally. Some of these themes include Tunku and Independence, Tunku's Philosophy/Concepts, and Tunku's Biography. Additionally, the memorial showcases the Old Office Building of Tunku when he was the Prime Minister. Visitors can also see the Residence Building where Tunku lived from 1956 to 1970. This Residence Building is a major attraction for visitors because the over 100-year-old building still retains its original form and layout. There is also an exhibition outside, with the most interesting exhibit being the 1959 Cardillac Fleetwood car used by Tunku. Library facilities and souvenir shops are also available.
